Domain Authority (DA) and Page Authority (PA) are metrics created by Moz (an SEO company) that score from 0 to 100.
- DA: Indicates the strength of your entire domain (website).
- PA: Indicates the strength of a single page on your website.
Google has not yet provided a direct tool or score (like DA/PA) to indicate your website’s authority. While Google didn’t provide a single metric, Moz and other companies (like Ahrefs’ DR/PR) created these scores by analyzing Google’s multiple ranking factors.
These scores allow SEO experts and website owners to easily judge their SEO efforts. These are for comparison and evaluation purposes only.

How are DA/PA calculated?
Moz’s algorithm operates on a complex “logarithmic scale” (meaning achieving a DA of 30 to 40 is easy, but reaching 80 to 90 is very difficult). Its calculation depends largely on these factors:
A. Incoming Link Profile (Biggest Factor)
Quality & Quantity: How many relevant, high-quality backlinks are coming to your website (for Domain Authority) or page (for Page Authority).
Technical & UX: Moz also says it looks at User Experience (which improves UX design) and Technical SEO, but link profile has the greatest impact.
B. Page-Specific Factors (For PA)
For PA, internal links (links to your website from high-authority pages) and social shares according to Moz also play some role (but Ahrefs does not consider social shares).
Does DA/PA guarantee ranking?
No. This is the most important thing for EEAT:
DA/PA is not part of Google’s algorithm. If a website has a DA of 60, it does not mean that it will automatically rank.
DA/PA either doesn’t consider or gives very little importance to many important factors (such as content quality, user intent).
So why is DA/PA important?
When you try to get backlinks for your website, you don’t have access to the other website’s Google Search Console. DA/PA is a way to quickly assess the authority of that website. Your IT staff also evaluates backlink opportunities based on it.
Historically, DA/PA has been increased in a short time by purchasing paid backlinks. This makes it clear that these metrics depend heavily on link profile.
If your web designing and SEO strategy is focused solely on DA/PA, you should also consider Google’s real ranking factors. DA/PA are just Moz scores, not Google rankings. Their main role is backlinks.
